About Football at Bridge Football Academy
At Bridge Football Academy we work on the basis that all our players should look to ’Dictate, Create & Exploit’ both in possession and out. Our philosophy is essential in the development of our young players, and will equip aspiring young players with the repertoire of skills which is necessary to compete at higher levels of football. We will explore this philosophy further with you during our presentation. We work alongside grassroots football clubs, and do not wish to affect or interfere with our players’ local football in anyway. It is essential players enjoy their football for their respective teams and use this as a platform to showcase the technical work they do with us.
Accepting a place within the Academy means players must be able to train weekly on a Wednesday night at their relevant one-hour time slot between 6.00pm – 9.00pm. Training takes place at Waterwells Astro Turf in Quedgeley. Players will also be offered opportunities to play with the Academy in matches against a variety of professional clubs and representative sides. We envisage that each age group will play several games throughout the season though these will not conflict with grassroots footballing provision and will be played on nights during the week.
OUR PLAYING PHILOSOPHY
We are looking to develop players that can CREATE, DICTATE and EXPLOIT both with the ball and without it.
• We want to develop players who can DICTATE possession by moving the ball quickly
• We want to develop players who can CREATE opportunities to play forward
• We want to develop players who can EXPLOIT 1v1s and overloads
Out of Possession
• We want to develop players who will DICTATE where and how the opposition play
• We want to develop players who can CREATE opportunities to steal the ball
• We want to develop players who can EXPLOIT defensive overloads in their favour
This philosophy will be delivered using technical and tactical practices which are designed to improve the 1v1 skills of all players regardless of position. This style of coaching is currently used by the FA with the England national teams and was developed within the Manchester United Academy which has produced many international players over the years.
